ASUStek has earlier ventured into the mobile phone market, at least the Taiwanese market, and now it seems it will continue with its phone ventures. It has now revealed something that fits better into ASUStek’s profile as a computer company, namely IP telephony and Skype. It has namely revealed a wireless Skype phone at CeBIT using WiFi technology, using the 802.11g standard. The wireless phone looks to be a mix of a DECT and GSM phone that can also act as a remote for your PC through the WiFi connection. Those who feel inclined can even use the phone as a mini sound system and play music from the computer. A nice feature, which however will most likely be seldomly used considering the presumed sound quality.

The phone is charged either through USB or a regular AC adapter and the battery will be enough for 25h standby and 2h speaking time. If and when ASUS’ Skype phone will arrive remains to be seen.
