ASUS EAX1600XT Dual is the name of one of the first graphics cards to be displayed officially with dual graphics circuits based on the new X1x00 architecture by ATI. The card use as the name imples two Radeon X1600XT graphics circuits in one graphics card and where NVIDIA’s GeForce 7950GX2 solution is only deeper through its sandwich design, this card is higher and longer instead. The card is in many ways similar to ASUS latest graphics card with dual graphics circuits, ASUS EN7800GT Dual, which used two NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT graphics circuits. EAX1600XT Dual is equipped with a massive cooler and comes with video outputs, two DVI and two VGA, which is completed by VIVO support.
How well this card actually performs remains to be seen and as usual we have a hard time understanding what the real point with dual graphics circuits on the same PCB is when we’re not talking about real high-end products. But at the same time it shows that you can create dual-GPU graphics cards with ATI’s circuits.
