ASUS EAX1800XT TOP seems to be the first of several new X1800 XT graphic cards that will be shipped with higher frequencies. ATI is in a real tight spot now with NVIDIA’s new GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB model as the new king of the hill. However it says that it has a PE version of X1800 XT on the way that will take down NVIDIA’s beast, but it surely won’t mind if the current Radeon X1800 XT gets an extra push. ASUS seems to be the first to do this, not all that surprising as it has earlier lanuched a GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB kort card as a TOP version with considerably higher frequencies. Its Radeon X1800 XT is also branded TOP and is shipped with higher frequencies than ATI’s reference card. ASUS EAX1800XT TOP has had its GPU overclocked to 650MHz and the memory up to 1550MHz, which can be compared to 625MHz / 1500MHz with ATI’s reference. I.e. no magnificent increase but according to ASUS enough to make the card to go past 10 000 points with 3Dmark05. if this is correct is hard to say, but it will be faster than other regular Radeon X1800 XT cards available. However the card is looking a lot more brutal now, mainly because of its very big and rigid black cooler. Source: HKEPC
