ASUS recently launched the first Eee Top PC, best described as a desktop and laptop hybrid. All components are integrated into the monitor and with a convenient carry handle it becomes quite mobile, which still need an outlet to work. The main attraction is not just that all components have been squeezed inside the case of the monitor but also the touchscreen technology for simple ad convenient navigation. ASUS’ first Eee Top model sports a 15.6″ display, but there will be more and bigger models in June 2009.
ASUS is planning to launch both a 20″ and 22″ Eee Top model in the first half of 2009. The computers will be made by Quanta Computer, just like the current 15.6″ model.
The larger displays will make room for better components and it looks like the launch will be just before we will see the unveiling of Windows 7., an operating system that has been tweaked to work better with touchscreens and better performance with these kind of systems.
