ASUS has never been shy with coming up with new and exciting ways to spruce up its graphics cards and in the past it tried to attract users with a Formula 1 inspired cooler. This new cooler focuses more on performance than looks though, and ASUS Radeon HD 5770 CuCore will ship with a whole new copper-based cooler. Cu is the symbol of copper, so CuCore more or less means ”core of copper” and the cooler uses a total amount of 164.5g copper.
With a solid copper core the cooler sports considerably better heat absorption and transduction for moving the hot energy from the graphics card up to the aluminum fins. ASUS has also revised the circuit board design, which is now longer than AMD’s reference design. on the I/o bracket we see three video outputs in the form of D-Sub, DVI-D and HDMI.
With these modifications we had hoped for some tweaked performance, but sadly the clock frequencies remain at the specified reference clocks of 850/1200MHz. The price will be around 140€.
