When we tested Intel’s new processor series Sandy Bridge we concluded that there is no better CPU for gamers. ASUS has come to the same conclusion and isntalled the mobile version of Intel’s new mid-range processorin its 17.3″ gaming laptop G73SW.
ASUS G73SW is part of the Republic of Gamers family and is anything but ultramobile. With the massive 17.3″ skärm (1920×1080 pixels) the computer weighs 3.9 kg and is better left on the deskt. Any potential buyers are most likely happy with that though, considering what is found inside. There are many models of laptops on the market; however, if you want to get the best laptop for gaming according to my testing, then the following laptops are must haves for you.
ASUS has chosen to use a quad-core Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU as the heart of the new monster laptop. The processor operates at 2.0 GHz but good for 2.8 GHz with Intel’s Turbo Boost technology. Beside the integrated Sandy Bridge GPU, ASUS has equipped G73SW with GeForce GTX 460M (1.5 GB graphics memory) to power the HD display. The top model also sport 120 Hz panel for Full HD 3D through NVIDIA 3D Vision.
Other specifications worth mentioning include 8GB RAM, 1 TB storage (with two 500GB hybrid harddrives), USB 3.0, Bluetooth, HDMI outputs and 8 cell battery to keep components alive even when there is not outlet available.
ASUS G73SW can be found in stores now, with prices starting at 1500€ going up to 1700€ for the top model.
