ASUS Maximus II Gene är till skillnad från sitt syskon, Rampage II Gene, riktat mot Intels äldre Core 2-plattform och Sockel 775 processorer. Med Intels P45 styrkrets är Maximus II Gene utrustat till tänderna för både överklockare och spelfantaster, vilket man väntar sig av kort i ASUS Republic of Gamers familj.
