ASUS continues to move out notebooks quickly and the latest model – ASUS U36 – is an extra pleasant acquintance. Despite the relatively powerful processor in the form of a mobile Intel Core i3 or Core i5 CPU the company has managed to keep it thin with a magnesium profile of only 19mm.
ASUS has chosen a regular Core i3/i5 CPU and still managed to get 10 hour battery time from a regular 4 cell battery. The power ful processor is assisted by a discrete NVIDIA graphics circuit that activates when needed through the Optimus technolgy.
The trimmed design keep the weight down at 1.44kg (the Core i5 model weighs 1.7 kg with an 8-cell battery) and the magnesium case has a nice finish on the pictures. Under the hood sits a cooling solution with dual heatpipes that keeps temperatures at bay.
ASUS U36 is available with Intel Core i3 380M CPU or Intels Core i5 460M CPU, and sports 13.3″ display and comes with 4GB RAM, 500GB drive and Bluetooth 3.0 and 802.11n WiFi. The computers will appear in the first week of December.
