ASUS M2A-VM HDMI looks like a competitor to abit’s recently launched Fatal1ty I90HD motherboard. It namely uses the microATX format without stripping the board of all too much features. ASUS M2A-VM HDMI is based on the new AMD 690G chipset, which uses an integrated Radeon X1250 graphics circuit. This capable graphics circuit has made it possible to equip the board with a number of video outputs and among these we find an HDMI output, just like the name reveals. The boards has no HDMI output on the I/O panel but this has been placed on the expansion card where there is also a component output.
ASUS M2A-VM HDMI is certainly for the media center market with its tiny format and broad video support. The question is how efficient the integrated Radeon X1250 graphics circuit is when it comes to handling HD video. According to the specifications there shouldn’t be a problem playing 1080p material as there is also support for HDCP. The motherboard is for AMD’s Socket AM2 platform and we will have to wait for the official launch for price and availability.
