On April 26th AMD will launch its first retail processor sporting six cores. Beside Phenom II X6 we will see two new chipsets, AMD 880G and AMD 890FX. The former will be the entry level solution for the AM3 platform with nice features like SATA 6.0 Gbps and an updated HD 4250 IGP. We now have pictures of one of the more endowed models, ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3. The motherboard ships with above mentioned features, but also USB 3.0, 8 channel audio, FireWire, Gigabit Ethernet and eSATA.
As expected ASUS will deliver the board with unlocking capability of CPU cores on the hardware level and its overclocking software TurboV.
According to the specifications published on an Asian hardware site the board use the SB810 southbridge, which is the same as SB850 sans RAID 5 as far as we know.
We can expect ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 in stores by the end of the month. Expect it to be cheaper than current AMD 890GX models.
