Component maker ASUS is one of the more active at CES in Las Vegas and much of the focus is on the core production, motherboards. Except from a load of Intel boards ASUS has also brought a number of motherboards for AMD’s Socket AM3 platform and one model is extra interesting. ASUS M4A89GTOD PRO RS890 is built on AMD’s next generation chipset, AMD 890G, which means SATA 6Gb/s and USB 3.0.
ASUS M4A89GTOD PRO RS890 could be one of the first motherboards with native SATA 6Gb/s and USB 3.0 support, thanks to AMD’s SB800 southbridge that will arrive with AMD 890G. ASUS has supplied the board with no less than six SATA 6Gb/s ports and 12 USB 3.0 ports.
Other mentionable features include DirectX 10.1 compatible graphics circuit with both DVI and D-Sub video outputs. Those who want more can always use the dual PCI Express x16 slots (x8 + x8).
The boards has four DDR3-1800 slots, 10-phase power supply and sideport memory. AMD 890G motherboard is slated for Q2 and we will hear more of it closer to the launch.
