ASUS already has the fastest GeForce GTX 580 on the planet in the DirectCU II model that has reached 1 620 MHz GPU frequency during extreme overclocking. The company has even scarier things coming and the MATRIX GTX580 Platinum is expected to appear at CeBIT 2011. Pictures have leaked beforehand and reveal physical levers for changing the voltage.

ASUS has built on the DirectCU II model but beside sharing the same powerful triple-slot cooler not much is the same. ASUS MATRIX GTX580 Platinum has a new PCB sporting an even more powerful power supply than DirectCU II. NVIDIA launched GeForce GTX 580 with 8-phase power supply, with DirectCU II ASUS increased this to 10 phases and with MATRIX comes another 6 phases, 16 in total.

The card comes with measuring spots – ProbeIt – for the various voltages, while MATRIX GTX580 Platinum will be the first graphics card to sport ASUS TweakIt. A technology that comes from ASUS’ ROG motherboards where they have three physical buttons for changing voltages in real-time without soldering or anything. You can change the voltage for GPU, memory and PLL with the press of a button.

The classic Safe Mode button is also back from previous MATRIX cards where you can reset the card with a flick of the hand, which is convenient if the cards has been pushed too high too fast.

ASUS is expected to launch GPU Tweak software that enables users to control frequencies and voltages of up to four cards simultaneously. When ASUS MATRIX GTX580 Platinum arrives and what the price will be we don’t know.
