A while back we reported on ASUS’ coming notebook UX21 with ultrathin profile and 17W Core i7 Sandy Bridge processor. Digitimes reveals that ASUS os carefully watching MacBook Air and will price UX21 lower than Apple, which is sees as the main competition.
ASUS UX21 is part of the new Intel Ultrabook concept that offers performance with battery times and slim profiles. UX21 will be th first in the concept to remind of Apple MacBook Air, which will also be the main competition and the company is said to watch Apple and when they announce the refresh of MacBook Air based on Sandy Bridge.
ASUS UX21 in between 11.6″ and 13.3″ MacBook Air
ASUS will put UX21 100 dollar below MacBook Air, which currently means 899 dollar, but if Apple decides to drop prices of next generation MacBook Air we will see an even lower price. UX21 measures 3 mm where it is thinnest and only 17 mm where it is thickest, weighs only 1.1 kg in a 11.6″-format.
ASUS UX21 will be the first notebook that follows the Intel Ultrabook concept. The idea behind these is to offer high performance but still remain portable, light and offer good battery time, while the price will be below $1,000. ASUS UX21 will be one of the few, according to Intel, that follows the concept with Sandy Bridge, while it expects a lot more companies to do it with the coming Ivy Bridge architecture at 22nm.
