ASUS has been emphasizing the overclocking potential of its products for several years and not the least its motherboards. But when AMD had a hard time keeping up in terms of performance, even with overclocking, most enthusiast motherboards have been tailored for Intel’s processor platforms. With its new 45nm Phenom II family AMD gained some new momentum in terms of overclocking and ASUS looks to give them a helping hand.
Our Finnish colleagues at Muropaketti grabbed some pictures of a new Socket AM3 motherboard from ASUS, named Crosshair III Formula.
The motherboard is a true enthusiast motherboard that with AMD’s 790FX chipset will enable users to really pressure AMD’s latest processors to accomplish new feats. With 8-phase power supply and familiar OC functions like TweakIt and heatpipe cooling it does it best to make sure the motherboard is not the bottleneck.
The price tag will be higher than most AMD users are accustomed to. Crosshair III Formula will cost around $200 when it arrives after Computex in June.
