ASUS Eee Pad Transformer 2 is rumored to become one of the first tablets with Nvidia’s new ARM system processor Kal-El. The circuits is expected to become Tegra 3 and has now appeared under the hood of ASUS’ coming tablet. According to the specification the tablet – ASUS TF201-1I020A – will sport 1GB RAM and 32GB storage.

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer 2 will if we rely on LambdaTek Component Shop build around a 10.1″ display. Even if it doesn’t say anything about a docking station for transforming the tablet to a notebook this is expected.

The main number of the tablet is Nvidia Kal-El or Tegra 3 that we choose to call the new quad-core circuit. (actually penta-core to be true). Made with TSMC’s 40 nanometer technology Tegra 3 will bring up to 5 fold the performance of Tegra 2 – the reference for the OS Android Honeycomb. This is possible by doubling the number of CPU cores and raising the clock frequencies from 1.0 GHz up to 1.5 GHz. Also the GPu has been upgraded with more execution units and overall tweaked performance. Nvidia promises 2-3 times the performance of Tegra 2.

GPU GeForce ULP Gen 2 with 12 cores GeForce ULP with 8 cores

The perhaps best and most important news of Tegra 3 is the energy saving functions. With help from a fifth Cortex-A9 core the circuit can lower energy consumption substantially during low loads compared to Tegra 2.

ASUS and Nvidia unveils Transformer 2 and Kal-El on November 7th?

If we get back to ASUS Eee Pad Transformer 2 the listing reveal that the tablet will ship with Android Honeycomb. Even more interesting is that the unit will be in stock on November 7th, which would hint of a launch soon.

This is further enforced by ASUS’ chairman Jonney Shih and Nvidia’s VP Jen-Hsun Huang that will make a statement at AsiaD conference next week, which sounds like the perfect opportunity to present the new tablet and its exciting chipset.

asus.eeepadASUS Eee Pad Transformer gets a successor soon, perhaps already in November.

As usual this is unconfirmed and should be taken with a pinch of salt. We can’t help hoping for a launch soon.
