MSI announced the ability to unlock AMD’s “new” Phenom II X4 960T and gain access to two new cores. MSI
890GXM-G6 has this ability and exactly how it does it, technologically speaking we don’t know for sure, maybe it simply force a new microcode on the CPU to enable the two disabled cores, but either way it can turn a quad-core into a hexa-core. ASUS has no intention of being worse.
We have acquired two screenshots from ASUS showing how a quad-core can turn into a hexa-core.
Two cores disabled
Six cores enabled
The race is on.
