ASUS has a strong position on most markets, and being the world’s biggest motherboard manufacturer it is now trying to get a hold on the perhaps most important PC market of the future. ASUS wants to broaden its assortment and grab market shares in China where the potential group of buyers is enormous. Unlike most Western markets China is very keen on the low-end and according to recent stories ASUS has cut prices by at least 10% to send a signal to the competition.

MSI is said to have followed already, but Gigabyte is holding off for a market response. Those who are in the risk zone is ASRock and ECS, two of the companies that has had the most influence on the entry level segment in China.

The price cuts is said to affect both AMD’s and Intel’s platforms, but while some consider this a reply to Gigabyte’s rising sales in China other say that ASUS is simply airing out stocked products while waiting for new deliveries.

ASUS chose not to comment on the story to NordicHardware. You shouldn’t expect price cuts anywhere in the Western world, no matter how much you want them.
