Athlon 64 FX-62 will be the new flagship for AMD when the new Socket AM2 platform is launched in just two weeks. Now we’ve received information that says that FX-62 will be, just as expected, clocked at 2.8GHz, 200MHz more than today’s Athlon 64 FX-60. Except from the obvious differences with support for DDRII memory and the new platform FX-62 will use the same HTT bus at 200MHz multiplied by 5. The processor will use a voltage at 1.4v, which is slightly more than the FX-60, which only needed 1.30-1.35v. With the Socket AM2 platform Athlon 64 5000+ will replace FX-60 as 5000+ is basically the same processor, but with a new name and for another platform. Just as Athlon 64 4000+ replaced Athlon 64 FX-53. Source: The Inquirer
