Small preview image

Athlon 64 FX-62 was unfortunately abscent when we published our preview of AMD’s new Socket AM2 platform, but now the flagship has found its way into our test lab, our surprisingly cool lab this hot spring day. We put AMD’s FX-62 processor into the hands of our overlocking and 3Dmark guru Marcus “Kinc” Hultin who knows the 64 FXs series better than most. Kinc has already made some overclocking attempts with AMD’s new processor and done so with some extreme air cooling. No fluids or negative celsius, just air was present when Kinc managed to reach a very respectable frequency of 3288MHz which is the highest frequency anyone has achieved with FX-62 using just air cooling, as far as we know.

The tests performed so far is just the start of Kinc’s overclocking escapades with the FX-62 and already this weekend the first more serious attempts will be made using some more exotic cooling. The overclocking record with air cooling bodes well for the future and this Athlon 64 FX-62 system will be pushed to its most upper limits Live at DreamHack Summer 2006. We will offer you more information as soon as possible, for Athlon 64 FX-62 overclocking is just a small part of what we will display at DreamHack, we can promise you that.
