Athlon 64 X2 5000+ has been mentioned earlier here at NH  and the öatest we heard was that the new dual core processor would appear during the second quarter of 2006. Now it seems that we will see the new flagship even earlier  and apparently 5000+ will bring a friend, namely Athlon 64 FX-60. This information comes from AMD who when it announced to the public about its lowered processor prices also listed these two processors in its tables. The first prices will appear during the first quarter of 2006 and indicates an earlier launch than enticipated.

There are no specifications what-so-ever available for the two coming processors but X2 5000+ is most likely a .6GHz model of X2 while FX-60 är något mer oklar. That it has jumped from FX-57 directly to FX-60 might indicate something more than just a higher frequenct than the latter and some speculators seem to believe it will be the first dual core FX-processor, but we will simply have to wait and see.
