Catalyst 5.11 is probably the most longed Catalyst-drivers ever and has been very eagerly awaited by ATI-owners, especially those who are using the new generation of ATI-card, the X1000-family. Catalyst 5.11 is namely the first official drivers which use ATI’s OpenGL-optimizations for the X1000-series and at the same time it has done other heavy optimizes for ATI’s new graphic card. ATI has not released Catalyst 5.11 yet, but is expected to do so any time now. At TweakTown they’ve tested the new drivers already, both last generation and the new X1000-family.
It is pretty clear that that it’s the latter ATI has been focusing on and there is a lot of positive things to tell about. ATI seems to have done great progress with the new drivers for its new graphic card family, but with the older cards it doesn’t seem to be much of a difference. ATI will soon release the drivers at its homepage but you can download tham at TweakTown already, when ATI releases them you will find them in our filearchive.
