Several of ATI’s partner are currently preparing to launch Radeon HD 2900 Pro cards. These are all basically just a lower clocked version of the Radeon HD 2900 XT, the cores are identical otherwise. The 2900 Pro is not expected to be around for long, and neither is the Radeon HD 2900 GT, which is expected to arrive at approximately the same time. Both of these cards are a simply way for ATI empty out an excess supply of R600 chips to make room for the RV670, which will arrive in November. The 2900 Pro will cost about $250, and the 2900 GT is expected to cost slightly less due to the fact that it only has 240 stream processors instead of the full 320 as the 2900 Pro has.
