ATI‘s budget circuit Radeon X1300 is perhaps not the best choice for those looking at building a gaming rig but through its AVIVO support and overall acceptable performance there are many interesting areas of use. GeCube seems to be one of the manufacturers that has come up with a new one, namely using the circuit in the now very outdated PCI interface. Radeon X1300 has been designed for the new PCI Express interface but by using a bridge chip, PEX 8111 from PLX Technologys, they’ve added support for the old PCI interface. The graphics card has now appeared in stores in Japan branded as KuroutoShikou, which according to X-bit Labs is just GeCube products by another name.
KuroutoShikou RX1300-LP128H, which the card is called, sports DX9, Shader Model 3.0 and will be able to handle Windows Vista’s Aeroglass interface so there are future prospects for those wanting to upgrade their old “PCI PC” with a new graphics card. Even if X1300 isn’t the most powerful circuit around it will be more than enough for the computers sporting neither AGP nor PCI-E. Another interesting use for such a card would to get access to more DVI outputs if you’re using multiple monitors.
