ATI readies for massive price cuts

ATI seems to be planning for a massive price reduction of its entire Radeon X1000 based assortment, including Radeon X1300, X1600, X1800 and X1900. The reason for the coming price cuts is simply NVIDIA’s expected aggressive prices for its new GeForce 7900 series. A price cut with its video card series would make it easier for ATI to compete with its rival that is expected to launch several new video card models during CeBIT in a few days. GeForce 7900 GTX has been rumoured to cost only $499 while ATI will counter with $549 for a Radeon X1900 XTX. A price that implies that the actual performance between the cards are not very big and maybe even an advantage to ATI.

Whether this is correct or not we will be able to answer quite soon and at the same time we will know more about ATI’s latest price cuts that sound pretty logic to us.
