RS600 is, as we’ve reported earlier, ATI’s next generation chipset with an integrated graphics circuit. According to ATI the new chipset will sport a graphics circuits with twice the performance of today’s RS480 IGP. Exactly what graphics circuit the RS600 IGP is based upon remains undisclosed by ATI, but it has announced that it will be the first ATI IGP to sport its AVIVO technology for hardware acceleration and image quality improving technologies for 2D video. The RS600 circuit will also sport both DVI and HDMI outputs to be paired with the first HDCP chip to be integrated onto a motherboard. This makes RS600 a great foundation for HTPC systems with advanced video technologies, support for the HDCP encryption and certified for Windows Vista Premium.

RS600 is already ready to be launched but is not expected until July/August together with Intel’s Core architecture which will be the first platform ATI will turn to. First it was suppose to be the AM2 platform that would be the first to gain from ATI’s integrated chipset, RS690, but now it has chosen to go for the Intel model instead.
