ATI’s next generation graphics circuit architecture is called R600 and as usual we will see a number of model in the R6xx family to cover most markets. What more or less has been confirmed is that R6xx will make use of the technology Xenos use inside Xbox 360, which among others means a unified shader architecture. Now ATI has also, indirectly, informed us about the manufacturing processes for the R6xx family. Most likely none of the circuits will use 90nm technology, but only 80nm or 65nm. We don’t know which circuits that wil be made with which technology, but from what we from ATI’s earlier cards it usually testtries out new manufacturing processes with the low-end circuits, so we should be able to expect that the low-end models will be made with 65nm while the high-end segment will be made with 80nm, just to be sure.
