Intel’s energy efficient Atom processors have appeared in a new suit. The processor maker have baked in both memory controller and graphics circuit into the processor, which nearly halved the power consumption. Information on two new models of Atom N4x5 has been posted and the updated memory controller now supports DDR3 memory.
Intel Atom N475 will be the top model with 1.85GHz clock frequency gets power consumption 6.5W, while the sibling Atom N455 maintains 1.66GHz core clock and the same power consumption as the current N450 model, 5.5W.
By the looks of it the new Atom processors will not be different from the current models in any other way. The difference in performance won’t be especially big, but hopefully the more efficient memory technology can help reduce the power consumption of the platform even further.
