The last week or so hasn’t been fun to AMD. The report for the last quarter was close to a catastrophe and the analysts were not happy with what they heard. Some even suspect that AMD is running out of money. In a report published by TGDaily, AMD has now boosted the expectations with its coming Barcelona architecture by saying that it will actually be 50% faster than the equivalent Xeon at floating point calculations and 20% faster at integer calculations. Whether this is a way to try and boost the stock value or indeed correct remains to be seen, but it would hardly hurt AMD if it were.
