BenQ is big on the monitor market, but it also makes other products like computers and mobile phones. BenQ has revealed that it will launch several products using the mobile, and backed by Google, operating system Android in 2010. BenQ will primarily launch smart handheld devices, which we presume means smartphones, with Android, but it doesn’t stop there.
BenQ has looked at platforms from Intel and Qualcomm for its smart devices, but is also planning to support Android with its netbooks. When the first Android netbooks from BenQ comes along depends on how the software support comes along.
Android is a cheap alternatives as an open-source operating system but the number of supported applications are fairly few. BenQ will keep a close eye on the Android development and launch its first units when the software platform has gained some more momentum.
