BiTMICRO is certainly one of the leading Solid State Drive developers, but if you’re wondering it’s not better known among regular consumers it’s simply because that’s not their target buyer. We’re following the development of SSD closely and BiTMICRO is one of the companies that is constantly pushing it to new heights. Just now, it has presented the world’s first SSD with a storage capacity of more than 1TB (!). BiTMICRO E-Disk Altima Ultra320 SCSI SSD ships with a storage capacity of up to 1.6TB.
This is actually more than what the mechanical drives are capable of and with 1.6TB storage in a 3.5″ format you can’ deny the advantages of the SSD technology. Except from the massive storage capacity it is suppose to offer tremendous performance with speeds up to 230MB/s, in some cases up to 320MB/s.
“Claiming its seat as the manufacturer of the world’s first Ultra320 SCSI flash drive, this time the E-Disk® Altima™ Ultra320 SCSI drive will offer an astounding 1.6 terabytes of storage capacity in a standard 3.5-inch form factor, a most welcome development for the highly demanding enterprise, military and industrial applications.”
BiTMICRO’s SSD is not designed for retail markets and we don’t even know what the thing will cost.
