Blu-ray might be the next optical format and will be launched some time next year about the same time the competitor HD DVD. Both formats uses advanced systems for hindering piracy and at Extreme Tech they’ve done an article on how Blu-ray will be protected versus pirates. They’ve taken the DVD-format as the bad example where DeCSS left doors wide open for piracy. Blu-ray has an advanced DRM-system which consists out of three parts, AACS, ROM Mark and BD+. It has namely chosen Blu-ray over HD DVD just because of the efficient copy protection.
