Blu-ray has run into some trouble in its struggle for world domination, it will begin the real battle next year with HD DVD about what format that will replace today’s DVD format. Blu-ray has for the last couple of months been moving forward very strongly, but has now bumped into some problems. It’s Hewlett-Packard, which for long has been solely supporting Blu-ray, are now backing from this and saying that it will also launch products for the competing HD DVD format. The reason is most likely that HP isn’t satisfied with Blu-ray’s copy protection but also the choice of not using iHD. In the end this is of course a real boost for HD DVD, which I think we all think they needed right now.
