We have earlier reported about the porn companies’ interest in Blu-ray due to the format’s high storage capacity and interactive functions. They have in no way excluded the HD DVD format, but Blu-ray seems to be the format they talk about the most. Putting moral and ethics aside the porn industry is one of the world’s biggest and what has earlier been indicated by the porn copmanies, picking Blu-ray, could mean that Sony and its partners will be victorious in the battle for the next generation DVD format. Now world leading Digital Playground has announced it will support the Blu-ray format and much of this is based on the integration of the format into PlayStation 3.
“PlayStation 3 is going to be the Trojan horse that will get a lot of numbers into the home theater systems — the living rooms,” said Joone, who is also a movie director. “Technology-wise, we’ve chosen Blu-ray, which doesn’t mean we won’t support both formats … but as far as having really cool technology and a lot of storage for future-proof, Blu-ray is a good format.”
Not everyeone is convinced that the porn companies’ interest will be the finishing touch though, but it is surlely great advantage having the support of an industry that generate an annual revenue of $57 billion worldwide.
