Boeing stops offering internet access in the air

Boeing will stop offering Internet access during its flights. The reason is simply because of a cool interest among the travel companies.

“Regrettably, the market for this service has not materialized as had been expected. We believe this decision best balances the long-term interests of all parties with a stake in Connexion by Boeing.”, says Boeing CEO Jim McNemey

After big investments in a satellite-based system for six years it turns out that the travel companies prefer the cheaper alternativse such as via mobile phone network. By cutting this cost Boeing counts on that the revenues will increase the next year. The 560 exmployees of the Connextion project will most likely get an alternative employment within Boeing.
