We recently reported that OCZ are to release OCZ PC4000 EL DDR Gold, the first DDR500 modules on the market. Now OCZ have, as usual, released a budget version of their high-end modules. OCZ PC4000 EL DDR differs from the Gold version on a couple of areas, mainly, the timings are somewhat worse. The Gold version’s specified timings were 2.5-4-4-7 while the new budget version settles with 3-4-4-8. The budget version also seem to lack the EVP (Extended Voltage Protection) we mentioned in the news about the PC4000 EL DDR Gold, but otherwise the differences seem to be small. We’re still waiting for the prices, and the Gold version will probably be too expensive for most people.
