The people over at Akihabara News has posted a video where they show what you can do if you happened to have three Compact Flash memory cards and some excess cash lying around. If you do, you can invest in a DIY SSD ($188), set the jumpers and plug in your Compact Flash memory. Don’t expect any Mtron-like performance, no chain is stronger than it’s weakest link, I.e. your memory cards. The performance of the drive in the video peaks at 10MB/s in RAID0 and in RAID5: 9MB/s. The host device use the IDE interface and can handle memory cars with up to 2TB of storage.
