AMD earlier stated that Bulldozer-based processors will launch in the second half of 2011, but with TechEYE at IDF 2010 AMD’s John Fruehe revealed that samples of Bulldozer will start shipping to partners in Q4 2010 already, which is a promising start.
Without mentioning performance and details on the first Bulldozer-based Opteron processors Fruehe revealed that AMD is very pleased with what it has seen in internal benchmarks with the new processors.
Would AMD get the speed up and its partners turn out to be pleased it may even speed up the launch of its new generation of Opteron processors, which would hint of a Summer 2011 launch. We shouldn’t read too much into this, but it is at least positive to hear that AMD is getting ready to ship samles to partners. This is one big step closer to benchmarks leaking to the media.
