ATI has since the launch of the X1000 family claimed that it has been working on Catalyst drivers optimized for processors with dual cores. Something the compeition, NVIDIA, has already launched some time ago. Now it seems like the first version of ATI’s dual core Catalyst drivers are on the way and at Anandtech they’ve tested Catalyst 5.12 which is suppose to give a performance gain with dual core processors. The drivers are not final which is pretty obvious from the tests, but ATI has taken a step in te right direction with its goal to use the performance available with processors with dual cores. At Anandtech you can read about how Catalyst 5.12 performs compares to Catalyst 5.11 with both single and dual core processors.
