Cedega recently arrived as version 5.1 with a series of updates that contain some of the most popular new games. At the same time many of the profiles for the older, but still popular games have been updated. Those of you who are new to Cedega it is an application that makes it possible to run DirectX based games on a Linux system. In reality Cedega works so that you subscribe to it through Transgaming and that way you will get the latest updates during the time you subscribe. Cedega has never been able to accomplish equal performance to a native Windows platform, but then again you might wonder if that is even remotely possible.
It turns out that version 5.1 can’t match Windows’ performance either, but on the other hand it offers more than playable performance even if the FPS is a bit lower. Cedega is without a doubt an interesting solution, even if it’s not perfect, it actually presents some real bugs with some games, but all and all it works more than satisfactory.. Well worth a look if you’re curious about Linux as a gamer.
