Blu-ray has now reached a very important milestone before the final launch of the optical blue laser format. Sony has namely announced it has brought forward and approved the first movie in HD format on a Blu-ray Disc (BD). The movie is none other than Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle which has been compressed in MPEG2 with a resolution at 1920×1080 px, I.e. maximum HD resolution. The disc will be shipped to Blu-ray player manufacturers for testing. We are really looking forward to Blu-ray taking the final leap on to the market, even though this might mean you will have to cancel that order for a 720p projector and wait for the next generation with support for 1080p.
