Sony Electronics CEO Stan Glasgow has said that he does not expect Blu-ray players to go below $299 this year. Even though $299 is an improvement perhaps affordable for people with a TV to match, it’s still too much for many. But next year, he expects players costing $200 to arrive. He also says that there will be no cheap Chinese-made players flooding the market, simply because they won’t license the technology to them. He didn’t say it out loud, but indicated that piracy s a concern.
