About a week ago we reported that Microsoft had sent out a message to system builders in Great Britain where they among other mentioned “home visits” to consumers that had purchased computers without an operating system, a so called “naked PC”. These statements was later silenced after outrageous consumers had shared their oppinions and Microsoft claimed that it is far from as serious as it first sounded. Now it seems that another country has chosen to follow Microsoft’s suggestions precisely to fight piracy, China has namely decided to forbid all sales of naked computers. The new directive will become official on January 1 and simply means that you will not be able to buy a computer without a pre-installed operating system. Source: TechTree
