The chipsets found on today’s motherboards often get rather hot and especially NVIDIA’s popular nForce 4 and nForce 500 series often get really hot during load. If the processor gets too hot you can just switch to a sturdier cooler, but unfortunately it’s not as easy when it comes to the chipset. The chipset is namely often positioned quite poorly and therefore the choice of cooler is of utmost importance, not just from an efficiency point of view. At Madshrimps they’ve tested several chipset cooler and it is pretty clear that some manufacturers have taken the positioning into consideration more than others.
