We’ve seen a number of overclocking and performance records being set with Intel’s Conroe processors the last couple of weeks, far ahead of the actual launch. Now yet another interesting comparison with Conroe has appeared, the Taiwanese overclocker Coolaler has namely published an article that compares a Conroe processor overclocked to 3.7GHz with 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. Simply to see if there is any performance to gain from Conroe’s 64-bit support. Coolaler has used a number of benchmarks, ranging from Cinebanch to 3Dmark2001 and SiSoft Sandra. Unfortunately it is just the first that show better performance in a 64-bit environment which probably means that people won’t exactly be flocking around Windows XP 64-bit Edition, not meaning that they are now though.
