Blu-ray Disc Association has with the help of a neutral company made a marketing survey to find out whether the Blu-ray format or the competing HD DVD format is the most interesting for the consumers. The result of the survey showed a very positive result for the BDA when 58 percent of the people participating answered they prefered Blu-ray as the next generation DVD-format. Only 16 percent preferred HD DVD while 26 procent was undecided. Even if BDA’s participation is questioned we can’t say we’re surprised by the result. Blu-ray is the superior format from a technical point of view, but the quesiton is what the costs will be. And of course what format the movie companies will pick. Source: Red Herring
