Cooler Master has presented a pretty exciting power supply at Computex, not only rated at 700W with 80 Plus Silver certified. The power supply makes use of the power grid for more than just power as Cooler Master has implemented Power over LAN technology with the power supply. Usually you have to buy network adapters that connects to the power outlet and then connects to the regular Ethernet port, but Cooler Master has moved beyond that with its new patented technology.
This is a feature Cooler Master has built into its new Power LAN 700W power supply and by connecting the network cable to the power supply you can connect your computers through the power grid of your own house, saving both space and cables.
We found out that Cooler Master has patented the technology in USA, China and Taiwan. It will also start selling stand-alone Power over LAN adapters. The power supply will primarily be sold without LAN adapters since these are sold separately, but it is planning to sell packaged deals. These can be used for picking up up the signal to routers or other devices that hasn’t been equipped with Cooler Master’s power supplies. Cooler Master’s Power over LAN technology will be specified up to 200Mbps.
The good thing about the LAN module inside the power supply is that it can easily be integrated into other models, you can count on more LAN power supplies in 2010 as Cooler Master is expected to present more models.
