Intel will not only be launching new processor models during next year but will also update its current series to keep up with the development. The Core 2 Duo family will namely reappear in a new shape and the big news will be that Intel will increase the processor bus to 1333MHz from today’s 1066MHz. The updated Conroe models will appear at the same time as Intel’s Bearlake 3 chipset and to be able to separate them from the first generation of the Core 2 Duo family Intel has updated the naming procedure.

All Core 2 Duo processors with 1333MHz FSB will be named like Exx50, instead of Exx00 as of today. According to DailyTech we will see three updated models at the launch of the Bearlake 3 chipset.

As you can see there is an overall increase of clock frequency but the focus in on the increase bus speed. Intel will also launch an E version of the current Core 2 Extreme X6800 processor, the same frequency and still 1066MHz FSB but a locked multiplier.
