Kentsfield has with its four processor cores been one of the highlights of Intel Developer Forum which was recently held in San Francisco. We’ve received confirmation for its name, Core 2 Extreme QX6700, as we’ve seen how it performs using Futuremark’s coming benchmark which relies on efficient multithreading optimizations. Now media had the possibility to run some benchmarks with Core 2 Extreme QX6700 and even if it was with systems put up by Intel we now have some more performance figures to rely on. Interestingly Intel chose to only have two of their own systems ready, Core 2 Extreme X6800 (dual cores) and of course Core 2 Extreme QX6700 (four cores).



This was to show what kind of performance you would gain from four cores, in several applications. Still, far from all applications will be able to make use of all this calculation power. Anyway, a bunch of previews of Core 2 Extreme QX6700 have appeared and we’ve gathered some of these below;
