Core Duo is Intel’s latest mobile processor, with dual cores and 65nm manufacturing process är it’s a well performing and power efficient processor that has already been adapted by most laptop manufacturers. But the Pentium M series has earlier found its way onto the desktop market and Core Duo is no exception, we have already seen a number of motherboards using the ATX standard sporting Intel’s new mobile processors and the perhaps most interesting ones are based on the 975X chipset. Here you get everything from performance to overclocking potential in a well tested chipset and at GamePC they’ve combined AOpen i975Xa-YDG, one of few 975X-based Yonah motherboards on the market, with Intel’s Core Duo.

The results are very positive as both performance and overclocking potential are looking very promising, while the big attraction is the new performance/watt ratio as Dore Duo doesn’t really have any competition at the moment.

We’ve had a Core Duo processor in our test lab for a short time now and our overclocking guru Robert Kihlberg is currently looking for a stable platform. Unfortunately it seems that no distributor in Sweden carries AOpen’s 975X motherboard, but we can assure you we’re trying to work around the problem.
