Corsair CM3X1024-1333C9DHX will be one of the first DDR3-1333 memory kits on the market and over at Bit-Tech they’ve come across one of the first engineering samples of Corsair’s new memory flagship. The kit contains two 1GB DDR3 modules working at 1333MHz, making a quite interesting kit. The fact that the modules are specified at 1333MHz is probably the most interesting feature of the kit and at Bit-Tech they’ve focused on this, and compared it to DDR3-1066 and DDR2-800/1066 modules.
It’s no secret that the DDR3 technology has to reach rather high frequencies to match the current and highly optimized DDR2 technology with its aggressive memory latencies, and the current DDR3-1066 modules is hardly the most interesting on the market. But the fact is that not even the DDR3-1333 specification is enough to make up for the loose timings. Corsair CM3X1024-1333C9DHX seems to be a very capable kit, but the fact is that not even the DDR3-1333 specification is even close to beating DDR2.
We’re glad to report that Corsair is planning DDR3-1600 modules for June and 1866/2000MHz modules in August. In other words, it seems that it may be worth waiting for even faster modules, but Corsair CM3X1024-1333C9DHX is certainly worth a closer look.
